i made my first bag the summer before going back to school for social work. i needed a backpack that i could use; that would be comfortable biking with (packed full) 10-15 miles a day, that could hold my school stuff, lunch, water bottle, extra layers, occasionally a laptop and whatever else i might need.
I looked around for a bag that could meet these needs without looking like i was on a hiking trip!
needless to say, i was not successful in finding what i was looking for, and realized the only way to get exactly what i wanted was to use what little sewing skills i had and make it myself.
my favorite part of my exploration of bag making has been the opportunities i have had to work with someone to design a bag that will meet exactly their needs
